| By knowing what applications are consuming the bandwidth, identification and classification provide the first step towards analyzing, monitoring, shaping and controlling the performance of business applications. BroadWeb does a more intelligent approach by identifying large varieties of application, so no matter which well-known port the misbehaved application is using, BroadWeb's unique technique is able to catch it, monitor it and control it, while leaving the legitimate traffic intact.
The database carries over 1,700+ signatures for classifying, managing, and protecting networks at the application level. With the Stateful Approach mechanism, we could identify encrypted traffic to determine the application behaviors and reduces the false identification rate to the minimum. In our initial analysis, based on actual network maps provided by NBL, the results have been quite promising, with clear benefits both to ISP's and P2P networks. BroadWeb’s accurate signatures for application identification can help customers reduce the time-to-market for application-aware networking equipment.
