Broadweb joins the Microsoft Active Protections Program

Broadweb joined the Microsoft Active Protections Program (MAPP), and will be provided with vulnerability information in advance of Microsoft’s monthly security update release to offer protections to customers efficiently and effectively.

“Security is an industry challenge. With Microsoft Active Protections Program, Broadweb and Microsoft continue to show each company’s commitment to industry partnership to help protect customers,” said Liu Ron Tie, the CEO of Broadweb.

The Microsoft Active Protections Program (MAPP) is a program for security software providers. Members of MAPP receive security vulnerability information from the Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC) in advance of Microsoft's monthly security updates. This information is shared in a secure and confidential manner to prevent it from being used maliciously. By receiving vulnerability information earlier, Broadweb is better able to provide more timely protections to customers through Broadweb intrusion prevention systems.

6WIND and BroadWeb Announce Integrated Software Solution for Intrusion Prevention Systems

Pre-integrated Intel® architecture-based solution provides line-rate Deep Packet Inspection while accelerating OEM’s time-to-market

PARIS, France and HSINCHU, Taiwan, February 24, 2012 — 6WIND, the gold standard for software-defined networks and BroadWeb, a market leader in network content security technology, today announced a partnership to provide pre-integrated software solutions for Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), accelerating OEMs’ time-to-market while delivering industry-leading performance. 6WIND and BroadWeb will feature these solutions at the RSA Conference in San Francisco from February 27th through March 2nd (6WIND: booth 242, BroadWeb: booth 2133).

The proliferation of network applications such as gaming and peer-to-peer file sharing has created business-critical challenges for network administrators and service providers. Networks must be constantly monitored for intellectual property leakage and other types of abuse. Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) technology provides network administrators with better visibility and control, but the DPI subsystem must perform at line rate while incorporating signatures that precisely describe the behavior of attack and applications.

“6WIND and BroadWeb have worked together to integrate the 6WINDGate™ packet processing software with BroadWeb’s DPI engine, providing a best-in-class solution for network security appliances”, said Eric Carmès, CEO of 6WIND. “Performing single-pass scanning, the combined solution delivers a throughput of 20Gbps per core on a dual Intel® Xeon® processor platform with a clock speed of 2.67GHz. The overall system-level performance of our combined solution scales linearly with the number of processor cores configured to run 6WINDGate, enabling OEMs to deliver network security products that simultaneously perform both IPS and Application Identification functions at line rate.”

“DPI technology is integrated into network appliances more widely than before,” said Dr. Terence Liu, the CEO of BroadWeb. “The partnership between BroadWeb and 6WIND overcomes the performance bottleneck of DPI technology and offers OEMs improved time-to-market along with high efficiency. The combined solution can easily be integrated into a variety of network devices targeted at both telecommunication and enterprise markets.”

The pre-integrated 6WIND-BroadWeb solution is available now. For more information please visit http://www.6wind.com or http://www.broadweb.com.
